What Is Hyaluronic Acid?

Hyaluronic acid is a natural part of the body. It binds water and gives skin volume, lubricates joints and shapes the eyes. With increasing age, the natural hyaluronic acid content of skin loses the capacity to store water. The skin loses moisture and volume, it becomes drier and thinner, and regenerates less efficiently. The loss of volume results in sagging skin. Hyaluronic acid is a form of crystal clear gel, which is injected to restore lost volume back to your face, smoothing lines and wrinkles, modelling your profile or give your lips a fuller form. No risk of transmission of diseases or allergic reactions even if you have allergies to certain food such as beef, poultry or eggs.

The hyaluronic acid gel used in aesthetic treatments is pretreated to last significantly longer than untreated natural hyaluronic acid.It comes in different viscosity and particle sizes, giving the injector a wide array of choices depending on the location of treatment but also the desired outcome of the patient.
For example, a highly viscous acid will be the product of choice for cheek augmentations due to its naturally high lifting capacity. These acids will usually also last longer than more viscous products. On the other hand, a lower viscosity product will be the preferred product for soft tissue augmentations, as for instance, lips, or tear trough treatments, due to the natural texture of these tissues.
There is no such thing as the “best product” on the market. Different brands have different arrays of acids with varying viscosities. We use multiple Brands, all of which we have personally tested and consider high quality products.Furthermore, our clinics have a subsidiary distribution company for hyaluronic acids, resulting in constant exposure to new products on the market but also high availability and transparent provenience awareness of all products in our arsenal. Our Doctors are highly experienced with the wide array of hyaluronic acids available and will certainly recommend the best product for your particular needs.

How Hyaluronic Acid Is Injected?

Hyaluronic acid is injected in very small volumes with a very fine needle or canal under the skin. Depending on your sensitivity to pain and the planned site of injection, we may provide you pain ointment or local anaesthetic in the form of cream or a hyaluronic acid containing local anaesthesia, allowing you to be as comfortable as possible for the treatment. The treatment usually takes from 10 to 30 minutes, possibly a little longer, depending on the degree of correction, the amount injected, and the region of treatment. Our philosophy is to never rush a procedure since we believe that good things take and care. Ultimately, the most important factor in every treatment is not the manufacturer of the hyaluronic acid gel butt the experience, patience, and technique of the injecting doctor.
